“My Heritage”

This is my own America,
This is the country I love.
There is a banner, “Old Glory,”
Waving so proudly above.

This is the state that I honor,
This is the town of my birth;
These are my friends and my neighbors,
And they are the salt of the earth.

These are the faces of loved ones,
They represent my everything.
This humble old house is my castle
Where I can be jester or king.

This is my land, rich and lovely,
Reaching from sea to sea.
With mountains, and plains, and great cities,
Where I can be happy and free.

These are the ideals I’ve followed,
The nature trails my feet have worn,
God gave me this land as a present,
My birthright…the day I was born.
