It was such an honor for Arthur Franklin Mapes to be included posthumously as an Indiana Bicentennial Torch Bearer in the statewide relay. Two of his sons participated on behalf of the Mapes family. Michael Mapes carried the torch, while Howard Mapes drove in his vintage Trans Am (color-coordinated to the festivities). The Mapes family is grateful to have Art’s legacy to the state of Indiana included in this celebration of notable Hoosiers.
