“At Christmas Time”

It’s Christmas time again in my hometown,
The colored lights are gleaming through the snow;
So silently … the snow keeps coming down,
And hearts, like Christmas candles, are aglow.

We talk with friends along the busy street,
And mingle with the happy shopping throng;
Say “Merry Christmas” to the folks we meet,
And thrill to every lovely Christmas song.

We window-shop, and then we go inside,
And look around at all the pretty things;
We see the smiles that people cannot hide,
The cheery smiles that Christmas always brings.

Though hope seems lost and trouble has no end,
And life, at times, seems cruel and rather hard;
At Christmas time we list each treasured friend,
And send each one … a lovely Christmas card.
